The majority of writing is creative in nature and there are many examples of creative writing. For example, novels, screenplays, poems, even nonfiction books are just a few types of creative writing. There are some people who feel drawn to the craft of writing. Others may have a gift for it that manifested at a young age. If you're not a natural talent, but feel like you want to write, have no fear. Your imagination can be tapped and various techniques can be learned to help you write your masterpeice. Here is a little closer look at a couple different creative writing examples types: Fiction Do you have an active imagination and a creative thirst to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard? This is some of the most fun writing. You create the whole story and put in on paper. You create the charater, you create where it takes place, and you create what the chararters say. Wheater it is a short story or a novel, screenplay or a TV sitcom, writing fiction is up to you and what's in your mind. Note: Many people have good ideas, but struggle with struturing the story. This is where a little bit a training can go a long way. Don't be afraid to take a class or workshop so you can gather your ideas and actually turn them into something. Nonfiction At first glance you may not think of nonfiction as creative writing. Well, in one way, you would be write. Nonfiction usually refers to being factual. But this doesn't mean it can't be a little creative. Think of a magazine article. If you give a writer from Time Magazine and Sports Illistrated the assignment to write a piece on Tiger Woods, you would get two completely different articles. They would both be factually correct, but would most likely each have their own creative slant on how they write their article. Or consider the many biographies of Abrham Lincoln. Each one contains factual information, often the same information, however each book is different because the authors are. Poetry When you think creative writing, you most likely think about short stories and fiction books, but don't overlook poetry. Writng poems is one of the most popular ways of self expression by people of all ages. It is also a way to make some cash. What am I talking about? I'm taking about bring poetry into the modern world and making a career out of it is as a greeting card writer. Or how about framed prints featuring poetry along with the artwork. See, if you get a little bit CREATIVE, you just might be able to turn that nack of writng poems into a career. Pretty cool! Creative writing can be for fun, so get started and get feedback on your work. There are all kinds of online fiction sites that welcome submissions from authors. In many cases, the pay is zero. Write because you like it. Your love for wrting may enable you to break into the magazine market, write a fiction or nonfiction book that does well or even sell a screenplay.
